The Granary building and the adjoining Malthouse number among the oldest remaining buildings within the Borough of Barking and Dagenham and Rooff are proud to be associated with the restoration and “bringing back to life” of such an important local feature.

Rooff completed work on this site, and features the total refurbishment of The Granary building, incorporating a new riverside café and terrace and the construction of a new contemporary designed extension, to sit alongside the original Granary building. The refurbished and new accommodation is part occupied by Rooff, with approximately 10 – 15,000sqft available for Creative Industry and B1 Commercial users.

This regeneration scheme established an exciting new creative, commercial and residential quarter in Barking, which will build on and compliment the already successful regeneration taking place in the Town Centre.

The Granary building forms a new destination point on the river, for business users and general public alike, which links back to the Boroughs historic fishing and Malting heritage.”

The whole Abbey Road / River Roding area forms part of the longer term regeneration aspirations promoted by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and which are also heavily supported by the LTGDC.

The future redevelopment of the Abbey Green open space will only further add to the improvements in the area and will help raise the profile and regenerate the whole western side of the Town Centre.
