Responsible Sourcing Policy
Introduction Rooff Limited are a London based Principal Contractor that puts the community at the centre of their business activities. We are committed to minimising our environmental impact, promoting good environmental practice and ensuring we operate in a socially responsible manner. The purpose of this policy is to enhance our corporate and social responsibilities. We believe in taking responsibility for the impact we have on the environment, our employees and all those affected by our activities. We are proud to be ISO 14001:2004 and ISO9001:2008 accredited, both of which are independently audited by the BSI.
Business Ethics We will ensure integrity in all our business transactions. We will be fair, honest and transparent in our communication and dealing with our business partners and other stakeholders affected by our supply chain activities. We are proud of our payment record and adherence to conditions agreed with our business partners.
Environmental Sustainability · We will operate in accordance with ISO 14001:2004 and take into account our environmental impact and the performance of goods and services when making purchasing decisions. · We will seek to reduce waste by monitoring and reviewing the amount and type of materials purchased. We will seek opportunities to purchase recycled products and materials, where possible we will reuse materials and recycle them at the end of their useful life. · We will strive to reduce our carbon footprint by purchasing goods with low embodied carbon wherever practical. · We will monitor our carbon footprint for both our office, plant yard and sites in order to measure and subsequently reduce where possible. · We will seek to specify goods which have low in use water and energy consumption. · We will endeavour to specify and procure all timber based products from certified legal and sustainable chain of custody sources, such as PEFC, FSC etc. · We will expect our supply chain to either have their own environmental policy or work within our environmental policy. · We will seek to reduce waste to landfill through strict adherence to the waste hierarchy in accordance with Waste (England & Wales) Regulations 2011. · Almost 90% of our skipped waste is currently being recycled and we will continue to work in partnership with our waste contractors to improve this figure. · Minimise the amount of deliveries and vehicle movements to and from our sites wherever possible. · We will support the Halving Waste to Landfill Commitment.
People · We expect all our suppliers and subcontractors to demonstrate a commitment to ethical working practices, fair wages and working hours and to operate strict policies of equal opportunities and diversity. · It is a requirement of all our subcontractors working on our sites to hold the appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards. · We will regularly work with local agencies such as the East London Business Partnership and our supply chain to help establish opportunities in recruitment of local labour and by sourcing local goods and services, recognising the benefit this brings to ourselves, the workforce, communities and the environment. · We will seek to procure local goods and services to help reduce the impact of transport and our carbon footprint. · We expect our supply chain to share our commitment to Health and Safety and to operate robust policies and procedures or work within our policies and procedures.
Summary We will take all reasonable measures to ensure that this policy and all other policies are implemented and reviewed on an annual basis. |
