SEEDS OF GROWTH: CREATIVE QUARTER IN BARKING An artists impression of the completed project

'The London Thames Gateway Development Corporation has given planning permission for this creative quarter in Barking, including the restoration of granary building.

The scheme, designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen and submitted by Rooff Holdings, is designed to hold 7,000m2 of work space for artists, 220 homes, offices and cafes.'

Saint Francis Hospice cares 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As a charity, it relies on financial help and support from the community to give specialist care and services, free of charge, to patients, their families and carers.

It is a registered charity which was founded on Christian principles to offer specialist care to patients who have cancer or other life-limiting illnesses.

They care for adults of any age, race, sexuality, religion or ethical belief and, although they must rely on voluntary donations for a large proportion of our running costs, they make no charge to patients, their families or carers.

Their aim is to alleviate suffering which may be physical, emotional, social and spiritual, in order to give patients the best quality of life possible, however long that life may be.

Rooff, a family run construction and development company, are joining the list of sponsors of The Wood Awards 2009, which celebrate excellence in design in the world’s naturally most sustainable material.

 

 

The Wood Awards is now in its seventh year, having become well established as the most respected award for building and design in wood. Varied entry categories are intended to attract projects of all shapes and sizes in the construction, joinery and furniture industries to enter, showcasing all kinds of design. With permission from the owner, anyone associated with an eligible building or furniture project can enter the project before the closing date of 22 May 2009.

In a world where sustainability is the new watchword, The Wood Awards offers a stage for architectural design and craftsmanship, things that Rooff champions and continues to invest in.

Striving For Life !

The sun shone brightly upon the hundreds who had gathered at Dorney Lake near Eton, Windsor to participate in the Tri for Life 2008  Mini Triathlon, a Combined Charities Challenge.

The Mini Triathlon required each team to complete a 400m swim, a 20km cycle ride, and finally a 5km run.  Amongst the assembled crowds on Sunday 21st September 2008 were 3 teams from Rooff, who each completed the race in very respectable times.

Rooff Supporting Local 'Business Person of the Year'

Rooff are pleased to sponsor the category of 'Business Person of the Year' in the 2008 Barking & Dagenham Business Awards. These awards, organised by Barking & Dagenham Enterprise (BDE), acknowledge the achievement of Barking & Dagenham businesses and the people behind them, which Rooff is keen to support due to their close ties in the Barking and Dagenham area.

The Purcell School of Music is featured in Architecture Today (July/August 2007 edition)

As part of a succession of performing arts projects, Rooff has recently completed a performing arts centre at The Purcell School of Music, which is designed by Edward Cullinan Architects and reported on in the July/August 2007 edition of Architecture Today.

Rooff wins Camden Building Quality Award 2007 - 'New Dwellings' Category               

 

Rooff are the proud winners of the 'New Dwellings' category in the London Borough of Camden's Quality Awards 2007. The winning project, designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects, was located at 32 -34 Lithos Road, NW3. This social housing scheme has a design brief based on a 65 year life span with excellent green credentials.

Rooff completes new housing scheme as part of the Bermondsey Spa Regeneration Project

 

The Artesian Building, which consists of 73 mixed tenure flats above a large health centre, has recently been completed by Rooff. The site on Grange Road is a 'flagship' for the Bermondsey Spa Regeneration Area and was won by a partnership between Rooff, Pollard Thomas and Edwards and Hyde Housing Association.
